PLAATO Pro Network Configuration

This guide details how to connect your PLAATO Pros up and start transmitting data.

The PLAATO Pro transmits data to the cloud over WiFi. For this data to be successfully transmitted, your PLAATO Pro will need a solid and stable internet connection.

You have two options to connect your PLAATO Pros:

1. Create a PLAATO Guest Network (recommended)

2. Use the PLAATO Connect

Click here to download the PDF guide or follow the below instructions

1. Create a PLAATO Guest Network (recommended)

  1. Log into your internet router's management interface and find Your Router’s IP Address:

    • Check the router’s label or user manual for the IP address.

    • It is typically something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1.

  2. Log In to Your Router:

    • Open a web browser and enter the IP address into the address bar.

    • Log in with the router’s admin credentials. These can be found on the router or manual, or set previously by the user.

  3. Access Network Settings:

    • Navigate to the "Network Settings" or "Wi-Fi Settings" section. Look for the option to create a Guest Network.

  4. Create the Guest Network:

    • Set up the SSID (network name) and a secure password for the guest network using the PLAATO credentials. Contact your CSM or support@plaato.io for these credentials.

  5. Frequency

    • The PLAATO Pros operate on a 2.4 GHz frequency. They will not work on 5GHz.

  6. Turn Off Local Network Access:

    • Make sure the guest network is isolated from your internal or local network. This is important for securing the PLAATO Pros and other critical devices. Look for options like "Disable access to local network" or "LAN isolation."

  7. Save Changes and test your network

    • Once your settings are configured, save the changes. Your guest network should now be live

    • Test the Guest Network: Ensure it is live and operational.

    • Check PLAATO Pro Connectivity: Verify that PLAATO Pros can connect to the guest network by checking the devices in your app.

2. Get Connected using the PLAATO Connect

The PLAATO Connect is a small router that broadcasts the WiFi network for the PLAATO Pro. The PLAATO Connect is recommend for smaller facilities or cellars that have an available ethernet port within line of sight of the fermenter vessels.

It is essential to have excellent signal between the PLAATO Connect and your PLAATO Pros. Line of sight and minimal interference from obstacles will ensure a seamless connection and consistent transmission of data. Inside your PLAATO Pro box, you’ll find the Plaato Connect, an ethernet cable, and a power cord.

  1. Plug the pro-connector into power using the power cable.

  2. Connect one end of the ethernet cable into the WAN Port and the other end into the LAN port on your WiFi router. (see image below)

    3. Wait 1-2 mins, you should see LED lights start to come on. Connection is complete when

all three white LED lights come on.

     4. The PLAATO Connect needs to remain turned on and connected to your WiFi router as long
as the PLAATO Pro device is in use.

*Please note, the PLAATO Connect has been pre-programmed to work with the PLAATO Pro. Avoid pushing on the buttons on your PLAATO Connect.

If you're not getting three lights on the PLAATO Connect, there could be several reasons why. With many different network setups and wifi routers, extra security features such as firewalls and VPNs, it is common to experience challenges with first getting connected!
