Sematic Manager Setup Instructions

S7 Basic Communication

By default, Siemens communicated over the S7 Protocol. To ensure there are enough connection resources available, select the station you want to monitor, and double-click on Hardware to open the properties

Hardware View

From here, click the communication tab and set the S7 Basic Communication to 1 or higher. We have set ours to 4 in the example below.

Basic Communication - 4

Exporting the Data Block Addresses

Next we need the S7 Addresses, so that we can monitor them from the PLAATO Edge. The S7 address is built up from the Data Block, the offset and they type (e.g. REAL for a decimal place number).

  • Find the data block that you wish to export, under the Simati Station in the "Blocks" folder.
  • Double-click to open the data block
  • Go to File > Print

  • Select a PDF printer (e.g., Microsoft Print to PDF, Adobe PDF, or any installed PDF virtual printer).

  • Choose your file name and location, then click Print.

Capture

The file should look like this:

SematicOutput

Once you have this file, send it to us, along with the IP Address of the PLC itself.
